Hello friend,

TRAINING AT ESALEN INSTITUTE 
A winter or summer solstice is always a major turning point and wherever your hemisphere of habitat is, I wish you a happy solstice. I've returned from an awe inspiring adventure in the USA, training with beloved mentors Lorin Roche & Camille Maurine, at Esalen Institute. Meditation retreats in my life have been numerous, but this one, 'Embodying the Radiance Sutras' left me stirred, shaken and, well, exultant. The F word reigned supreme - Fun! I was honoured to share the journey with people who faced their yearnings and heart passions and, who expressed in their own inimitable way, a call to be taken and reconfigured in the body of love, that is the sutras. Each day, a gift of surprise to savour. One moment I felt ecstatic and and in another, so positively overwhelmed; I could not stop my tears. It's like standing naked before a bursting sunrise, when the radiance begins to appear, it's almost too much; how much intimacy could I stand?

And what a relief to relinquish control. At Lorin's suggestion, I let myself be ravished by the night stars. Try it some time, as you give in to the luminous light above you might experience the lover you've always craved. When life calls you to come play, be focused or attend to human stirrings, these are initiations into everyday adventures and they're empowerments we can give ourselves to live and love more fully. Surely this is not the picture of meditation you imagined!

The elements, our senses and instincts is the primoridal stuff of intimacy, relatedness and coming home to ourselves. This is the power and enchantment of the sutras, the Radiance Sutras and it was originally designed for men and women, you and me, for every day life, now. As a former Buddhist nun who chanted sutras and tantras regularly, I have never known a text to be so resourceful, each word vibrates with chi, shakti, tremendous life force, or as Carl Jung would say, libido.

You too, can experience directly, the magic of Lorin and Camille's work in the Radiance Sutras and Wild Serenity  workshops this October. In an industry known for its archaic ways, sexism and a few too many elephants in the room; it's not often you come across a dynamic husband and wife team who teach meditation for modern people. If you're wanting a more individual approach to meditation, one that shapes your identity and confidence in the world to be who you're meant to be; then this is a rarefied opportunity to learn from two authentic and powerfully gifted people.
